<p>Recent studies have shown that 40% of workers feel that their job is very or extremely stressful. 25% view their jobs as the main stressor in their lives. 29% reported feeling extremely stressed at work and 26% reported that they were frequently burned out at their jobs due to being stressed.</p>

<p>One of the interesting aspects of the American culture is its obsession to sports.  We idolize the sports stars.</p>
<p>It is important to us that our pro sports team win all the time. We even place a lot of emphasis on the sports our children play.It sometimes gets out of hand because of our extreme obsession.</p>

<p>I have noticed this trend running a <a href="http://www.johnboesky.com" target="_blank">family therapist San Diego</a> service.  A lot of times teenagers and parents put so much stress on these games it gets out of hand.  Of course it doesn&#8217;t happen all the times but it does happen. Counselling is really needed in those instances.</p>
<p>I have witnessed this a lot of times when parents get stressed so much by watching their kids succeed in sports that they themselves will need a counselor.  I have a lot of parents come into my <a href="http://www.johnboesky.com/sportspsychology.php" target="_blank">San Diego sports psychologist</a> office wanting too much out of their kids.</p>
<p>A lot of stress and problems will be caused by this. This can sometimes cause strains in their relationships. So they will need help in resolving some family issues rather than needing help to succeed in sports.</p>
<p>Those are the times when some teenagers feel that they need help.  I help a lot of teens in my <a href="http://www.johnboesky.com/adolescents.php" target="_blank">teen counseling San Diego</a> work who can&#8217;t take the pressure it puts on them.  So when that happens it is time not to just work with the teens but to work with the family.  And with some good counseling sessions and advice a lot of the problems can be resolved.</p>
<p>Of course these are extreme cases but when it does happen it is best not to let it get out of hand.It is now time for us to control our obsession on sports.So if we can do that then we resolve the issues of those strained relationships.But it is the way to resolve it.To prevent further problems by resolving it early. A happy and productive family will be the result of this.</p>

The point is stress is a killer, it&#8217;s out to get you, throw you to the ground and stomp all over you.</p>

<p>Talk to any doctor and they will tell you unequivocally that stress damages the body immeasurably in countless ways. Stress is the silent killer that infiltrates and then does it&#8217;s damage over time. Okay you know you are stressful and you don&#8217;t like it one bit but how in the world can we eliminate something that is so much of our life? You don&#8217;t eliminate stress you control stress. A certain amount of stress is actually good for you, it produces a sense of urgency, a motivation, a driving force. Stress can be compared to an adrenaline rush in as much they both create a burst of energy a sense of urgency. The trick is to <a href="http://howdoesstressaffecthealth.org/selfhelp/energytherapy.php" target="_blank"><strong>harness stress so it works for you</strong></a> not against you.</p>

<p>Unlike adverse and unpleasant stress, some stress can actually be positive and motivate you to better performance in your endeavors. You see this all the time in athletics or other sports training for example, where athletes are pushed to the limits of their stamina or endurance.</p>
<p>However, unwanted sudden stress, which may arise through many of life&#8217;s dramas big and small, can cause instant problems like dry tongue, hypertension, irritability, hot sweats and social anxiety disorders. There are some situations which lead to problems that you cannot feel immediately such as experiencing gradual weight loss or eating for comfort leading to <a href="http://howdoesstressaffecthealth.org/change/diet.php" target="_blank"><strong>stress related weight gain</strong></a>, feelings of hatred and anger that gradually rise to the surface over time or sinking into a state of hopelessness or emotional tiredness and depression. <p>The dictionary defines stress as &#8220;the failure of a person to respond appropriately to a situation that develops in his/her life.&#8221; This stress can be a real situation or could just exist in the person&#8217;s mind.</p>

<p>There are three stages of stress in the way the body reacts when it feels threatened in some way. The first stage is alarm, which results in the release of adrenaline, as well as the activation of the HPA axis, which produces cortisol. The second stage is resistance if the stressor exists for a period of time.</p>
<p>This is the body&#8217;s way of coping with stress. When it has to keep this up for a long time, the result is exhaustion, which is the third stage. At this point the body has depleted its resources for dealing with stress. This is when we are most aware of the symptoms of stress as it manifests itself in other ways, such as headache, stomach problems, mood changes, or depression, to list some examples.</p>
<p>Negative and positive experiences can cause stress. There are facets of the environment that can place the body in a state of stress as well, such as exposure to sounds and scents that cause unpleasant sensations, and situations such as lack of food and proper housing.</p>
<p>Everyone experiences stress at some time or another in their lives. It may be a one-time event or something that continues for a prolonged period. The effect that stress has on your life and the severity of the symptoms depend to a great extent on the ways in which you manage the stress or reduce it.</p>
<p>We commonly think of stress in our lives as being harmful and of having negative effects. However stress can be beneficial when you develop ways of managing stress properly. When you have a problem to solve, you can benefit from the stress because it encourages you to seek solutions and redirect your thinking. You need to have a healthy attitude towards stress in order to face new situations with an open mind.</p>
<p>For many people, past experiences have a direct bearing on how well they are at managing stress in their lives. Those who have been rejected many times will no doubt have low self-confidence and their way of managing stress will be to shy away from any situation that they perceive as being stressful for them.</p>
<p>This type of behavior, when it persists over a long period of time, can lead to more serious psychological problems and phobias. Chronic stress can lead to a breakdown in relationships, leading to divorce and addiction to drugs and alcohol, overeating/weight gain, or extreme weight loss.</p>
<p>When you recognize the symptoms of stress in your life, you should begin to look for ways in which you can <a href="http://www.wilddivine.com/wellnesslibrary/45.html">cope with stress</a>. If this is not possible, then you need to look for ways of managing it or for solutions to help you get relief. Taking up a new hobby that will get your mind off the situation, going for a walk, having a laugh with friends &#8211; all of these are great ways of managing your stress so that you stay healthy.</p>
